The Best Events To Attend In Bath And Beyond This Spring

Enjoy Bath and the surrounding area’s springtime events designed to float every boat, from food festivals to garden tours and guided walks. We’ve rounded up the top events happening in 2022 nearby to Burghope Cottage.

1. Stourhead Guided Garden & Estate Walks

National Trust Stourhead in Wiltshire is one of the world’s finest landscape gardens, with lakeside walks, grottoes, classical temples and more. You can also visit Stourhead House, a Palladian mansion with a fantastic regency library and beautiful art collection. Stourhead are offering free guided garden walks so you can find out more about the Genius of Stourhead, its history and the family who created this special place (normal admission charges apply). Garden walks are daily from Saturday 12th March – Sunday 6th November, 11am and 1.30pm. You can also join a member of their Walks and Talks volunteer team and explore the wider estate. Walks start at 11am and take approximately two hours, taking place on the last Friday of each month from March to October. Call 01747 841152 to secure your free place.
2. Bathscape Circuit of Bath Guided Walk.
The Botanical Gardens at Royal Victoria Park
Bath is surrounded by beautiful natural landscape, there’s so much to be discovered. Joining one, two, or all three of Bathscape’s Guided Walks is a great way to explore the countryside and take in the breathtaking views across Bath. The complete circuit is 21.5 miles long and Bathscape have broken it up into three walks in March, April and May 2022. (Walk 1: 27th March. Walk 2: 23rd April. Walk 3: 21st May.) 3. Bath Comedy Festival

Get ready for a fun-filled 26 days full of comedy and laughter. Bath Comedy Festival 2022 features both famous household names including Sarah Millican and Josh Widdicombe and the stars of tomorrow in a fantastic mix of comedy including stand-up, sketch comedy, cabaret, kids’ shows, music, magic & mystery tours. 4. Iford Manor: Behind the Scenes with the Head Gardener & Evening Champagne Tours.

If you’ve got green fingers, this is the tour for you! Discover beautiful Iford Manor Gardens with a special tour led by the Head Gardener Steve Lannin. Learn about the future plans for the garden, including new planting plans and pick up top gardening tips for your own garden. If you’d prefer to visit in the evening, join the owner William Cartwright-Hignett for a fascinating evening tour of Iford Manor Gardens then relax on the terrace with a glass of Champagne at the end of the visit to take in the views. 5. Bradford-on-Avon Duck Race

On Easter Monday (18th April 2022), Bradford on Avon Town Council will host its annual Duck Race from 11am in beautiful Westbury Garden. Enjoy live music, food and entertainment stalls, before the main event starts at midday. Take part by sponsoring a duck until Saturday, 16 April at the following town businesses: Piha, The Swan, Christine’s Sustainable Supermarket, Doghouse, Strawberry Blue, and Dible & Roy. Ducks will also be available from the Town Council offices and the Tourist Information Centre and on race day in Westbury Garden. There are lots of prizes to be won! 

6. The Roman Baths: After Hours & T’ai Chi on the Terrace

Enjoy a drink from the pop-up Prosecco bar beside the Great Bath from 15-17 April 2022. The Roman Baths will stay open until 8pm (last entry is 7pm). If you’re more of an early bird, start your day off right with their morning T’ai Chi sessions! Join Paddy Nisbett, a qualified private instructor, for weekly sessions of T’ai Chi on the Terrace returning from 19 April – 21 June 2022 and will take place at 8.00am – 8.30am every Tuesday. 7. Bath Abbey: Let There Be Light Exhibition

Titled ‘Let There Be Light’, the Bath Abbey exhibition will feature over 20 works by local artist, Shelley Ashkowski. Each piece is inspired by the stunning architecture of churches as well as many intricate studies of stained-glass windows. At the heart of the exhibition will be one of the artist’s newest pieces featuring Bath Abbey’s magnificent Great East Window. The exhibition is available to view during Bath Abbey’s opening times from 18 April-31 May 2022.

8. The Bath Festival

The Bath Festival returns as a week-long programme packed with live events from the 13 – 21st May 2022! Celebrate Bath city with music and literature. 9. Bath Vegan Festival

The Bath Vegan Festival is back at Bath Pavilion on Saturday 4th June 2022 with 60+ vegan/animal welfare and rights stalls, world food caterers, free samples, inspirational talks, exciting workshops and more! 

10. Corsham Walking Festival

With many wonderful walks, Corsham is a great starting point to enjoy the Wiltshire countryside. Corsham is a medieval market town that lies on the fringe of the Cotswolds Natural Landscape. Explore the North West Wiltshire hills, valleys and fields when they are at their best at the Corsham Walking Festival from the 10th-12th June 2022. 11. Bradford-on-Avon Food & Drink Festival

Produce at its very best, plenty to see, drink and eat in a vibrant atmosphere in the centre of the gorgeous and historic market town of Bradford-on-Avon. There will be a fantastic selection of artisan and street food producers for visitors to sample and shop from, as well as live cookery demos from chefs and experts, live music and more across two days (Saturday 11th June – Sunday 12th June 2022).
